ABOUT LANCE

Light, color, and form are the elements I use to capture your attention. My challenge is to not only create images that are beautiful, but also have them evoke thoughts, feelings, or memories in you. If the photograph stays with you long after you've observed it, then I have accomplished my goal.

I first studied photography in my teens, and achieved technical mastery in college. Photography has been my full-time pursuit since 2005. My archival fine art photographs are in private collections in over 40 states, and many countries. My work has won many awards and appeared in numerous publications. My photographs have been sold by the Pottery Barn throughout North America as limited-edition prints, and published as fine art posters world-wide. I co-founded the award-winning Riverfront Art Gallery in Petaluma.

I practice "straight photography" in the tradition of Edward Weston and Ansel Adams.  My work is simple and elegant, focusing on a sense of place, light, and mood that creates timeless and collectible artwork.
