Materials used by Lance to make prints.
The paper that Lance uses:
Hahnemuhle Photo Rag 308
Hahnemuhle is the oldest German papermaker. This Matte Fine Art paper is of archival quality and is made of 100% cotton. It has a weight of 308 grams per square meter. It holds fine detail without giving off reflections. I have been using this paper exclusively for over a decade.
The printer Lance uses:
The Epson SureColor P7000 printer. This uses Epson's HDX ink set that includes 2 cyans, 2 magentas, three shades of black, plus orange, yellow and green inks. The lifespan of the inks is measured in centuries and they have an excellent dynamic range.
The mat boards Lance uses:
Lance uses bright white museum boards from Archival Methods of New York state.
These are 100% cotton mat boards, that are museum quality archival mats.
I use 4 ply mats on prints that are 18x24 and smaller (the mat size), and I use 8 ply mats on prints that are larger than 18x24 mat size.
The frames that Lance uses:
For prints that have a mat size of 18x24 or smaller...
For many years I have used hardwood ready-made frames from Aaron Brothers. I am now using American-made wood frames by a manufacturer in North Carolina. The frame colors are generally various shades of black and brown. These use regular framing glass. I use 4 ply mats when framing these prints.
For prints that are larger than 18x24...
These frames are custom-made. I use 3 inch black or dark brown wood moulding that is cut to the proper size. I use UV resistant glass by TruVue (Conservation Clear) that blocks 99% of UV light, and I use 8 ply mats.
