"Late Winter Branches"

Shollenberger Park is a large wetland in Petaluma. It is a major rest stop for migrating birds and a peaceful place to hike, especially in the dead of winter.

Here, the winter sky is reflecting off the water through branches. A long telephoto lens was used, which made some branches in focus and others out-of-focus. This makes the photograph seem three-dimensional. When the print is well-lit, you think the branches are going to move as you walk by.
