Handcrafted Fine Art Prints — Meticulously Made, One at a Time

While I recommend that most collectors use my trusted outside vendor for print orders—especially for large formats or alternative materials—I still offer a select number of handmade prints for those who appreciate traditional craftsmanship and museum-quality detail.

Over the past two decades, I’ve personally printed, matted, and framed more than a thousand of my own photographs. It’s a labor of love that connects me directly to the final presentation of each image. These handmade pieces are crafted using the same care and materials I would use for a gallery exhibition or permanent collection.

The Paper and Print Process

Every print begins with Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308 gsm, one of the world’s finest archival papers. Made by a German company with over 430 years of history, this matte paper has exceptional dynamic range and holds fine detail beautifully. I print each image myself using a professional Epson P7000 printer and Ultrachrome HDX pigment inks—renowned for their color fidelity and archival stability.

Matting and Mounting

I use 100% cotton, museum-grade mat boards purchased directly from Archival Methods in upstate New York. For prints up to 18x24 inches in outer dimension, I use 4-ply mats. For my largest handmade works, I use substantial 8-ply mats—both for the overmat and the backing—to enhance depth and durability.

Frames and Glass

The frames are made of real wood, sourced from American manufacturers. Each one is assembled by hand and fronted with real glass. Larger framed prints come with UV-resistant glass to help preserve the artwork for generations. A metal wire is strung across the back for easy hanging. I never use ordinary backing boards; every component is acid-free and designed for long-term archival quality.

Size and Style Limitations

Due to the hands-on nature of this process and the limitation of my tools, I limit handmade prints to sizes of 20 inches on the short side (up to about 20x30 inches overall). While I can print bare panoramas up to 60 inches wide, the largest framed prints I offer personally are capped at 30 inches wide. All handmade prints come with white mats and a choice of black or brown wooden frames in various shades and styles. If you prefer a different frame color or finish, I’m happy to discuss custom options with you.

For Larger or Specialized Prints

If you’re looking for a very large print—or would like it produced on canvas, metal, acrylic, or other specialty materials—I highly recommend ordering through my outside printing partner. They produce outstanding work and offer a wider variety of finishes and formats, with the same attention to detail I value in my own studio.
