People often think I shot this from a plane, but I am standing on a cliff. This is looking north from near the lighthouse. From this height, you can notice that the water turns from turquoise to blue as it recedes in the distance. This picture was taken near sunset, so the shadows are long and colors intense. In summer it is often foggy, but since autumn was near, it was sunny. A while after making this photograph, I saw a book of California landscapes by Art Wolfe. This exact scene was on the cover.
