Subjects
The remote areas of Sonoma County are dramatic and beautiful. This workshop may go from the Russian River in the south, to The Sea Ranch in the north, as well as inland areas. We start earlier than usual, since there is a bit of driving involved if we go up to the county line. Our focus is on the landscape, we may also photograph buildings, wildflowers, and the interior hills around here. Our itinerary will be fluid, based on weather conditions on the day of the workshop, but we will be at or near the coast a good part of the time. Places we may visit include Salt Point State Park. The weather can range from a sunny cloudless day to foggy at the coast this time of year. We will mostly photograph near our vehicles and drive on good roads.
Our Focus
Using histograms, the workshop will focus on how to photograph in harsh light, capturing detail in both the light and dark areas of a scene. If it is overcast, we will go over the settings needed to get vibrant pictures.
