As winter begins to loosen its grip, Point Reyes enters a season of quiet transition. Coastal hills are still lush and green, trees drip with recent rain, and soft light breaks through layers of mist and clouds. This is the perfect time to explore the raw, expressive beauty of the landscape—and refine your photography in a small, supportive group.

This workshop is designed for photographers of all experience levels who want to capture both the subtle mood and emerging life of late winter. We’ll visit a mix of iconic and lesser-known locations, photographing everything from windswept bluffs and mossy trees to wave-washed beaches and weathered ranches—all in that low, lyrical afternoon light.

Workshop Highlights

📍 Pierce Point Ranch – Capture the historic charm of this 19th-century ranch, with its barn textures, open pastures, and distant ridgelines still wearing their winter green.

📍 Drakes Beach – Late winter skies often bring contrast and motion to the sea and sandstone cliffs. We’ll focus on shooting movement and reflections under shifting light.

📍 North Beach – A moody stretch of coastline where you can work with patterns in sand, crashing waves, and long views of the horizon.

📍 Cypress Tree Tunnel – This iconic location becomes quietly dramatic in the late light. We’ll close the day here with creative compositions using symmetry, framing, and contrast.

🚗 Meet in Petaluma – Start at Lance’s studio (carpooling available), or meet us in Inverness.

☕ Refreshment Stop – Quick break in town for snacks and drinks.
