This photograph was taken in spring along the quiet western slopes of the mountain road that winds between Yosemite Valley and Wawona.
The fog had settled in, softening every edge, wrapping the redwoods and pines in a kind of stillness that felt timeless. I was drawn to the silence, the way the trees emerged gently from the mist—layered, textured, almost dreamlike.
A year later, fire swept through this very stretch of forest. Much of what you see here is now gone.
