This photograph was taken on the outskirts of Longmont, Colorado, during a stormy summer afternoon when the air buzzed with electricity and the skies threatened rain. My future sister-in-law brought me to this weathered old barn, knowing I might want to photograph it—and she was right.
The hand-painted flag, bold against the faded wood, seemed to speak of endurance, pride, and the passing of time. This image is one of my early works, captured before I ever turned my lens toward the North Bay landscape. Shot on Kodachrome 64 film, it carries the unmistakable richness and depth of analog photography.
A timeless piece that stands as a tribute to both the American spirit and the early days of my photographic journey.
