Photographed more than twenty years ago at Dolcini Ranch, just outside of Petaluma, this is one of the first landscape images that set me on the path of photographing the North Bay’s open country.
The hills had already turned to gold, the old barns stood quiet and strong, and a single horse watched over it all in the warm afternoon light.
This fine art print captures a moment that feels both timeless and fleeting — the way the land still holds onto its past if you know where to look.
“Horse and Red Barns” is a piece of that memory: the beginning of a journey, the beauty of a place that has not forgotten itself, and the quiet story of the North Bay written in earth, wood, and light.
