Part of my “Petaluma Landmarks” series, “Petaluma’s Choice” captures one of the town’s most recognizable historic façades — an old ironfront building, its bricks and windows still warmed by the afternoon sun after more than a century.
This fine art piece began as a photograph but was heavily altered in Photoshop to create a painterly effect, blending texture, light, and memory into a single image.
The Coca-Cola sign, painted in the 1920s by the last owner of a local bottling company that dated back to 1860, still clings to the wall — a relic from another era that continues to mark Petaluma’s proud and independent spirit.
“Petaluma’s Choice” is more than a glimpse of downtown — it’s a celebration of the town’s craftsmanship, resilience, and small but enduring pieces of history that have stood the test of time.
